Queer Manifesto
Setiap memasuki tahun baru, saya selalu teringat pada tulisan seorang teman. Tulisan inilah yang saya publish lagi hari ini, karena saya merasa perlu diingatkan dari tahun ke tahun tentang manifesto ini.
Fear use to keep me from expressing who I am. I grew out of that as a teenager. And here is what I discovered. I am a Queer….. one of many. Please enter our world…..
Our emotional state is that of brotherhood.
Our addiction of choice is entertainment.
Our religion of choice is friendship.
Our currency of choice is knowledge.
Our politics of choice is for equal human rights.
Our society of choice is utopian though we know it may never be.
We continue to make strides, despite those of you who want to oppress us.
We will continue to strive, despite those of you who hate us.
We will continue to fight for a better world not just for ourselves, but for all the future generations of the world.
We continue to pack our bodies into bar’s, party’s, club’s, event & chat rooms, to seek out others that are just like us.
To dance fiercely with our brothers and sisters in celebrations of our life, of our culture, and for the values we believe in.
Peace, Love, Freedom, Tolerance, Unity, Harmony, Expression, Responsibility and Respect.
We seek to relinquish our inhibitions, and free ourselves from the restraints you try to put on us.
You may hate us.
You may dismiss us.
You may misunderstand us.
But we can only hope that you do not care to judge us, because we would never judge you.
You may say what you will, but you can’t stop our existents.
We are not moral criminals.
We are not mentally ill.
We are not drug addicts.
We are not devils.
We are one massive, online, global, tribal village that transcends physical geography & blood lines.
We exist without skin color, without nationality, and without religious bias.
Yet you call us moral criminals. Yes, I am a criminal.
My crime is that of love. Whom I choose to love should be no concern of yours.
Our enemy is closed mindedness.
Our weapon of choice is Information.
Our crime of choice is to challenge moronic laws.
Our Passion of choice is acceptance.
We came to accept that we are all equal, and to re-write the programming that you have tried to indoctrinate us with since the moment we were born.
Programming that tells us to hate and judge people who are different from us.
Programming that tells us to close our minds, instead of open them.
We are gay not because we made this choice in life but being gay is a result of life!
You need to realize that the world is not so black and white.
That there is a whole multitude of colors waiting for you, if you can just open your eyes.
